In the afternoon of January 10, 2010, the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers released the latest data on automobile production and sales. In December, China’s auto production and sales reached 1.86 million and 1.67 million, respectively, both of which broke the record of production and sales in December of the calendar year; in 2010, both auto production and sales exceeded 18 million vehicles, ranking first in global production and sales.

In 2010, the production and sales of automobiles reached 18.6247 million vehicles and 18,016,900 vehicles, which was a year-on-year increase of 32.44% and 32.37%. Among them, passenger cars produced and sold 13.8971 million vehicles and 13.7578 million vehicles, an increase of 33.83% and 33.17% over the same period of last year. Commercial vehicle production and sales were 4,367,600 and 4,004,100, an increase of 28.19% and 29.90% respectively.
