The prototype of the third-generation nuclear power plant blasting valve jointly developed by China Nuclear Suval Technology Industry Co., Ltd. and China North Industries Group's Northern Special Energy Group's pyrotechnics R&D center was recently launched at the China Nuclear Suval Laboratory. National Nuclear Power Technology Corporation, American Westinghouse Company, American SPX Corporation, China Nuclear Power Engineering Corporation, Shanghai Nuclear Engineering Research & Design Institute, National Nuclear Power Engineering Corporation, and leaders and experts of Suzhou Science and Technology Bureau witnessed the trial. The 8-inch high pressure burst valve and the ADS circuit 14-inch burst valve were successfully opened according to the predetermined function. Normal data acquisition of the test monitoring and the first explosion test were successful.

The key valves of nuclear power plants are important equipments for nuclear power plants. For a long time, they have mainly depended on imports. Foreign countries have always imposed a technical blockade on China in order to earn high profits. This has also become one of the bottlenecks restricting the localization of nuclear power in China. AP1000 blasting valve, as a national key research project, has also received support from the state's national withdrawal fund of 40 million yuan. It is the key equipment for the localization of third-generation nuclear power technology transfer imported from abroad.

AP1000 is the world's most advanced third-generation nuclear power plant technology developed by the United States Westinghouse team. The use of blasting valve passive safety system is one of its key technical highlights. The blasting valve belongs to the core equipment of AP1000 nuclear island which is nuclear grade 1 and earthquake-resistant 1. It can effectively prevent and mitigate the occurrence of serious accidents in the accident conditions and ensure the safety of nuclear power plants.

In order to meet AP1000 blasting valve technology introduction, localization development and manufacturing as well as major special research, the Group’s pyrotechnics research and development center has established a special project organization management organization from the very beginning of the project, and established and improved the project administrative command system and designers. The system, quality engineer system, and security system specifically developed the “AP1000 Explosion Valve Project Warranty Outline” applicable to the research and development of nuclear products. In December 2010, the company passed the quality assurance supervision by the National Nuclear Power Engineering Corporation and Su Valve. check. The entire prototype of this test from the procurement, manufacturing to the final acceptance process in accordance with the outline of the warranty requirements, in line with ASME specifications, 10CFR50 Appendix B quality control requirements and the United States Westinghouse blasting valve procurement technical specification requirements. The prototype of this test complies with SPX's latest version specifications and drawings, and is also a 1:1 final delivery product.

The success of this test signifies that the explosives R&D team of the Suowei and Tengeng Group has already possessed localized manufacturing capabilities for blasting valves. The localization of blasting valves has taken a happy step from research and development to the ultimate goal of engineering applications. The third generation of nuclear power relies on the construction of the project and the autonomous manufacture of nuclear power equipment is a milestone.
