Ministry of Agriculture: The role of chemical fertilizers in agriculture is irreplaceable

From May 15th to 16th at the Fourth International Forum on Slow-Controlled Release Fertilizer Industry Development in Beijing, Hu Yuankun, Deputy Director of Crop Management Department of the Ministry of Agriculture, said that the planting industry can maintain stability under the constraints of resource and energy constraints. Development, fertilizer input and scientific fertilization contributed. In the coming period, the role of chemical fertilizers in agricultural production, farmers' income increase, and economic development will remain irreplaceable.

China is a big country in agriculture and a big producer and consumer of chemical fertilizers. The total output and consumption of chemical fertilizers account for one third of the world's total. China uses 9% of the world's arable land to consume 35% of the world's fertilizer, produces 19% of the world's grain, 49% of fruits and vegetables, and 19% of the fruit, and feeds 21% of the world's population. According to expert analysis, in China, the contribution rate of chemical fertilizers to grain production is more than 40%.

According to Hu Yuankun, in 2005, the government launched a soil testing and fertilizer application subsidy program for over-fertilization, blind fertilization, and low utilization of chemical fertilizers in some areas. In the past six years, the state has invested nearly 5 billion yuan in subsidies for soil testing and formula fertilization. The number of project units has reached 2,448, and the area for promotion has reached more than 1.1 billion mu, which has basically achieved full coverage of agricultural counties. According to a survey conducted by the Ministry of Agriculture, the average soil per meter per mu in the demonstration soil fertility demonstration area increased 6% to 10%, reduced irrational fertilization by 1 to 2 kg, increased the grain yield per mu for the grain crop by more than 30 yuan, and increased the horticultural crop by more than 80 yuan. It has played an important role in promoting stable food production, increasing farmers’ income, and saving energy and reducing emissions from agriculture.

Hu Yuankun said that during the "12th Five-Year Plan" period, China will continue to carry out soil testing and formula fertilization, strive to improve farmers' scientific fertilization level, and make a positive contribution to the transformation of agricultural development methods.

Potassium Sulphate

Potassium sulfate is a common potash fertilizer. It can improve crops ability of drought resistance, cold resistance, lodging resistance, and pest disease resistance. It can also promote flowering and fruiting, and better use of nitrogen to increase protein content, and promote the production of sugar and starch. Especially suitable for tobacco, sugarcane, potato, sweet potato, grape, tea tree and other high potassium crops and sulfur-like cruciferous crops (such as rapeseed, beans, etc.) .Increase the strength, fineness, color purity of cotton and hemp crop fiber.

Potassium sulfate must be combined with nitrogen and phosphorus fertilizers for fully effect.

1. Do not apply to the roots of crops, neither to stems and leaves.

2. Not recommended for use in paddy fields or soil with strong reduction

3. Must be applied with lime or calcium magnesium and phosphate fertilizers for long-term application on the acidic soil.

4. Better to apply in small amount or mixed with farmyard fertilizer for sandy soil.

5. Prevent rain and damage during storage and transportation.
