BV approves the design of LNG fuel super large container ship

The French Classification Society (BV) has approved in principle the basic design of the world's first 14,000 TEU ultra-large container ship fueled by liquefied natural gas (LNG). The design was completed by the French CMA CGM and one of the main liner companies in Korea, the CMA CGM and the French Classification Society.
Jean-Francois Segretain, deputy director of technology at the French classification society, said, “The market will decide when such ships will be scheduled and built, but as a super-large container ship that is fully liquefied natural gas (LNG) fueled by sufficient work. Basic design, this is truly a milestone. After in-depth analysis using the Hazard Source Identification (HAZID) analysis, we can confidently express that the super large long-haul container ship is using LNG instead of fuel and does not have any technology and safety. Obstacles. This will save a lot of fuel and the emissions of the exhaust gas are very low. The main feature of this design is that when the ship needs to use heavy oil (HFO), the ship can be fueled by heavy oil. This is the ship before the LNG is widely used. The East has added flexibility. The 14,000 TEU container ship will be equipped with a MAN diesel engine ME-GI two-stroke dual-fuel engine. This is the most efficient ship host in the current ship propulsion system with both heavy oil and LNG fuel. In the lowest fuel and highest natural gas mode, only about 10% of the fuel is oil.
The basic parameters of the ship are: total length 365.5 meters, design draught 14 meters, design speed of 24 knots. A 22,490-cubic-meter LNG dual-fuel prismatic tank will be installed with the bow and a heavy oil fuel tank of 4430 cubic meters capacity will be installed at the stern. LNG storage tanks will use Daewoo's patented ACT-IB aluminum cargo tank - IMO Type B independent LNG storage tank and polyurethane foam (Poly Polyurethane Foam) insulation panel type.
The ship's main engine is rated at MWR 72,285 kW, and if it is full of fuel, the ship's range is 25,000 miles.
Segretain added: "The ship's engine and LNG storage tanks and their gas handling systems will add additional costs compared to ships of the same type that use conventional fuels. LNG storage tanks and related equipment will lose 438 cargo spaces. Standard box. However, in theory, the additional cost of capital and the loss of revenue for the entire ship will be offset by the design of fuel economy and low emissions.

Limiter & Limit Switch

A limiter for a Tower Crane is a safety device that is installed to prevent the crane from operating beyond its maximum load capacity or from moving beyond its designated working area. It typically consists of sensors, control systems, and alarms to ensure safe operation.

The load limiter is designed to monitor the load being lifted by the crane and automatically stop the crane's movement if the load exceeds the specified limit. It helps prevent overloading, which can lead to structural failure or accidents.

The radius limiter is used to restrict the crane's movement within a specific working area. It ensures that the crane does not extend beyond its designated radius, preventing it from colliding with nearby structures or obstacles.

Both types of limiters are essential safety features in tower cranes to protect workers, equipment, and the surrounding environment. They help ensure that the tower crane operates within its safe working limits and minimize the risk of accidents or damage.
