Maoming ethylene plant energy-saving emission reduction into a benchmark

Recently, the enterprise energy conservation work of the Sinopec Group Company was announced. In the evaluation and evaluation system for the energy efficiency compliance work of the headquarters, the energy consumption of the Maoming Ethylene plant was rated as the first, and was ranked as the first benchmark of the ethylene equipment energy consumption index for the headquarters in 2010.

Last year, Maoming ethylene produced 1.06 million tons of ethylene, ethylene plant energy consumption was 574 kilograms standard oil/ton, ethylene equipment loss 0.19%, a number of indicators in the domestic leading level of similar devices, one year ahead of schedule to complete the Sinopec headquarters and "Eleventh Five-Year "All energy-saving and water-saving indicators specified in the energy-saving plan.

They started the technical cracking of the cracking furnace that occupies the largest energy consumption in the whole plant. In just over three months, they burned out the 13-year-old ethylene torch and realized the “zero emission” of the ethylene torch under normal conditions.

Removable Plate Heat Exchanger (RPHE) is a type of heat exchanger composed of a series of plates which are held together with gaskets. The plates are connected in a plate pack that forms a sealed Pressure Vessel. The plate pack is assembled between a fixed frame plate and a movable pressure plate and is compressed by tightening bolts.



RPHEs are quite efficient as they have a large surface area compared to other heat exchangers. Heat transfer within the heat exchanger occurs between the plates and the fluids that flow through them. One fluid flows through the plate openings in each of them, and the heat transferred is determined by the size and number of plates in the exchanger. The heat -exchanging process is repeated in each of the plates and the collected heat is transferred to the other fluid.
