Under the leadership of Sinopec, Hubei Chemical Fertilizer Co., Ltd. cooperated with Wuhan University of Technology to carry out research on the project of “Banding Machine Fiber Bragg Grating Dynamic Weighing Technology and Applicationâ€. In the near future, the fiber-grating sensing continuous load dynamic weighing technology was jointly developed and passed the acceptance check of the Sinopec Group of Experts.
Fiber gratings have outstanding advantages such as high sensitivity, high reliability, long lifespan, and immunity to electromagnetic interference. Moreover, the optical fiber signals transmitted by fiber grating sensors are optical signals without zero drift. Therefore, the above-mentioned new technology uses a double-grating load-bearing sensor. Its weighing system transmits signals through optical fibers and is sensitive to reaction. It has no electricity at the scene and is explosion-proof in nature. With good technical stability and high precision, the repeatability error of the sensor is less than ±0.125%, and the weighing accuracy reaches the highest standard of the national standard.
At present, the research results have been applied to actual engineering applications on the belt conveyor of a company in Hubei Sinopec. The results show that this achievement is sufficient for the important industries of flammable, explosive, and strong electromagnetic interference in China in terms of the safe transportation and accurate measurement of bulk materials, and is conducive to the development and intelligent management of these industries.

Based on the development of fiber gratings, dynamic weighing has also taken a new direction.
