De Nora is supplied with 2 sets of electrolytic ballast water management systems for 2 oil tankers
It is reported that De Nora will supply two sets of electrolytic ballast water management systems for two oil tankers owned by Overseas Ship Holdings Group (OSG).
The two Balpure BP850-B systems can process 1,500 cubic meters of ballast water per hour and will be retrofitted to 50,000 dwt of finished and chemical tankers "Overseas Milos" and "Overseas Athens". Shipowner OSG currently owns and operates a global fleet of 78 vessels, including the United States.
The Balpure system handles ballast water by combining side-flow electrolysis and filtration technology. It is driven by patented cathode technology and requires less power than other systems. It has been approved by the IMO type and has been applied for a US Coast Guard type approval.
