Allison Transmission Co., the world's largest manufacturer of fully automatic heavy-duty commercial vehicle transmissions, has announced a deepening partnership with Bell Equipment, a global leader in off-highway vehicles and equipment based in South Africa. In addition to the Allison 4800 ORS model gearbox on the industry-leading Bell 60-ton articulated dump truck, Allison also introduced the 3400ORS gearbox for its B30E articulated dump truck. In addition, the South African vehicle and equipment manufacturer recently announced that it will use Allison as its exclusive supplier of gearboxes over the next five years.

Based on the 3000 Series product platform, the 3400ORS gearbox is designed for Bell's 30-tonne heavy-duty trucks, offering unparalleled durability and increased value in the vehicle's lifecycle. The gearbox uses xFE high-efficiency fuel-saving technology to optimize the speed ratio, making the torque converter more locked, extending the running time of the gearbox in the high gear and low engine speed, thus significantly reducing fuel consumption.

The Allison transmission increases productivity by increasing the acceleration of the articulated dump truck, increasing the average speed and increasing the average number of runs per day. In addition, the Torque Converter with Continuous Power TechnologyTM combines with a high-powered engine to improve vehicle performance and vehicle handling for industry-leading load capacity. Bell vehicles also feature DynActiveTM dynamic shifting, which adjusts shift points based on vehicle weight and road grade to further optimize fuel economy.
